Our second time going to this restaurant. Excellent atmosphere and lighting. Great service - they are always attentive. First time: excellent waiter. Second time: slight boring. Favorite dishes that have blown us away: Carpaccio of Hereford Beef; Ahi Tuna with truffle vinaigrette (served on these thin and fresh potato chips); hazelnut or vanilla Souffles (with two dipping sauces). Do not go there without trying these dishes! The biggest weakness for me is the by-the-glass wine selection. They have about 10 or so, but nothing that I was very interested in. We usually bring our own bottle, so this will rarely be an issue for us.

I had the prix fix lunch meal for $22. First rate salad, wonderful bread. The most delicious grill salmon I ever ate and a grande marnier souffle that I can still taste two days later. First rate service. I can't wait to go back.

Reviews in "The Miami Herald," "The New Times," and on other sites such as Trip Advisor speak quite well of TWO CHEFS in South Miami, even if fellow Yelpers have panned the place. The restaurant itself has a small cooking school and a schedule of classes that seem to indicate other people enjoy the cooking here. And the cooking ain't all that bad, though some dishes are much better than others. If I lived in the culinary no-mans land of South Miami perhaps I would be more generous towards Two Chefs. But truth be told anyone living in South Miami is 10-15 minutes away from Coral Gables/Coconut Grove and just a touch more to downtown and then another 10-15 minutes from there to anything on South Beach. You don't have to settle for a restaurant just around the block just because you live in the neighborhood. This past Memorial Day weekend, Michelle and I drove to Two Chefs as we fled South Beach in search of something good but chillaxed. A friend spoke well of Two Chefs and it sounded like just the spot to investigate while the beach went up in flames. The strip mall location didn't bother me as much as other strip mall restaurant locations (e.g., Matsuri) and we found parking right in front on a busy night. We entered Two Chefs and my spirits immediately lifted -- almost every table was packed, in what is usually a sign of good food ahead. But as we sat down and took in the "safe"-sterile decor, the homogenous crowd of mostly middle-aged, hard-core sub-urbanites, and a loud, cafeteria-like din that made it hard to talk, my heart started to sink. Our waiter, an elderly gentleman arrived tepid verging on cold. He wasn't mean or unprofessional and overall was waiterly but I didn't care for him. Most of the other waiters appeared stamped from the same mold: older men devoid of joy, as if working on a factory floor with youthful dreams long forgotten. I surveyed the place again and wondered if my fellow Two Chefers might not have also abandoned some childhood dreams somewhere along the race to settle suburbia. I don't want to sound condescending it just looked like alot of potential fun and spice had been taken out of the place for no good reason. Amid sociological reflections, the appetizers arrived: we tried the lobster bisque, which was watery, and the chicken eggrolls, which I thought savory though Michelle categorized them as "something you could get anywhere." I was becoming sour with Two Chefs as we waited for the main dishes: a surf and turf consisting of duck and shrimp and a pork loin stuffed with spinach and tomatoes and just as I was expecting the worse, both dishes came and were actually quite OK. Heck OK, they were good, smacking of some culinary creativity, though Michelle would stick more to the "quite-OK" side of the scale. As we finished eating we noticed the restaurant emptying out and the clock had not struck 11:00 p.m. and we were closing the place down on a Friday night. Last time I tried making reservations at Prime 112 on South Beach they couldn't sit us until 11:30 p.m. but clearly we didn't want to be on South Beach and how refreshing that one of the supposedly better restaurants in South Miami wound down early. No one offered us dessert or coffee and as we exited into the serenely calm parking lot of the strip mall and looked around the mostly quite streets off of U.S. 1 we reflected on the nature of safety and security, agreeing that perhaps the truism had it right all along, the biggest risk is not risking. Would I go back to Two Chefs? Probably not. I didn't care for the ambiance, the crowd, nor the service though none of those elements were particularly bad. I really wanted to like the restaurant and perhaps find a new a place away from the hub-bub that had good food in a casually elegant environment, perchance a sub-urban Michael's? I give it three stars with reservations, mostly because I thought the food was good; Michelle gives it two stars but could be convinced to add another star even if she thought less of the food than I did. While for me Two Chefs is a drive in the wrong direction, for those living in South Miami there are options aplenty within an easy drive and no need to settle for just what is at hand.

Great food and great service!!! My boyfriend and I went for Miami Spice and the food was delicious! So light, fresh and flavorful!! The only negative was that they didn't have bread for the table because they ran out but made up for it with the most delicious Cesar salad on the house!! We will be back!!! Just amazing!!!

We enjoyed the Miami Spice Menu. Added a perfect Wine, and closed with the Perfect Dessert.
We went in for their lunch menu during the Miami Spice. It was a great deal and my Tuna steak was the best I have ever had. I have never been for dinner but I think I would love to go now. The only reason I didn't give 5 was the service was a little slow for lunch.
Delicious, quality food tastefully presented! Worth the visit! It is a bit on the pricey side, but merited considering the caliber of food served.

I was looking forward to trying a new local restaurant specially since I had a couple of recommendations from friends. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the service, the food, and the owner. I went there for lunch and the place filled up quickly. There were only two waiters and a busboy to wait on the entire restaurant. As much as they tried to be efficient it was very hard for them to do things in a timely fashion. It took 10 minutes for water, 20 to get bread and have our orders taken. When the meatball appetizer arrived it was cold. The shrimp fettuccine, salmon sandwich, and chicken risotto were all bland and less than average in taste. By the time we were done with it I just wanted to get the check and leave but we had already had ordered desserts. In the meantime I asked for water which I didn't get until another ten minutes later. I couldn't get mad at the servers knowing they were doing the best they could do. What really disappointed me was seeing the owner at the bar not taking care of his customers. He was just there chit chatting. So sad that after receiving recognition you come to the point of not truly caring of your workers and the satisfaction of customers coming to try your restaurant. This is one place I will never come again.
I was in Miami for a meeting and staying somewhat close so I decided to find someplace within walking distance. I sat at the bar and Juan was the bartender. The Martinis were absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was awesome and the other patrons at the bar were very pleasant and obviously regulars and they were all dining at the bar. The Bread was served with olive oil with the typical oregano, garlic , basil, but with a refreshing burst of rosemary. I ordered the meat loaf on a recommendation from a regular and it didn't disappoint. The asparagus was done to perfection and the mashed potatoes were real. A bit on the pricey side but a fantastic meal!

We thought the idea of the restaurant was amazing! But the true is that it is an overpriced restaurant with ok food in a weird location, with slow service and not enough room. Seems too fancy for what it is... We were not impressed.. Well yes a little impressed with the prices.... Too bad cause is such a good idea.

Love. This. Place. Love. Love. Love. First of all, they have a year-round "miami spice" menu. You can get an appetizer, entree, and their famous souffle for $37, I believe. I want to start with their soffle's because they are just that good - you really cannot leave this place without at least sharing one. For the appetizer, my favorite is the tuna tartare and the black bean soup. Amazing flatbreads too! As for entrees, their speciality is the meatloaf, but it's off the menu so you have to specially ask for it. Best meatloaf ever and I don't even like meat! My favorite entree though is the Shrimp and Penne. Really must try this neighborhood gem!
Four of us were there last week enjoying the Miami Spice menu. The food was excellent overall. The selections for Miami Spice is one of the largest I've seen. Waiters were gracious & helpful. If there is anything I can recommend for improvement, it would be to provide each table with a brighter candle as it was extremely difficult to read the menu. We used our flashlight app on our phones. We will definitely go there again soon.

Food great, ambiance is amazing and the bartender, Juan's the best. However, having Jan stand at the window off the bar from the kitchen, hovering over the guests eating at the bar, makes it quite uncomfortable. I think his time would be better spent cruising the dining room floor and interacting with his guests. Little overpriced.

Not what I remembered it to be. I had this restaurant cater a private home party and I had not been back to the restaurant since then. So, I decided to give it another try. I was very disappointed as it was a Thursday and not even a weekend. Place was not busy, at all. We were seated for half an hour before we were approached by our server and asked if we wanted a drink, I asked for a dirty martini (it wasn't dirty) BF asked for Michelob Ulra, which they didn't have. Needless to say to get the actual drinks took another 20 minutes to receive (reminder it was a Thursday night, not busy at all).and the, server was was dry and serious. Now for the dinner, which as well, took a very long time was greasy (steak and scallop dinner), and Tuna was dry and over-cooked. We went during Miami Spice and even though the waiter was aware of what we were ordering out of the Miami Spice menu, we received a bill for both the Miami Spice menu selection and the regular price!!! We got billed more than $100.00 extra, good thing we noticed!!! And to top it all off the drinks were from $12.00 to $17.00 with a house wine to boot, not even a selected wine. The Michelob Light was charged as a Stella Artois. There is also a homeless fee charge on the bill, which I haven't seen any restaurant charge. This is a restaurant on a strip mall not a fancy - schmancy place. Drinks should not cost this much. Neither should the food. Sadly, I will not go back to this restaurant and guess I will travel farther North for a better place to eat with better service.

I think I traveled back in time to 1972. Or maybe this is typical of South Miami old-school restaurants. I thought I was on the set of the Sopranos in Jersey. Bar stocked with every liquor you can imagine; no beer in view. Dark wood, dark lighting, no loud music (yay!). Several dour-faced old guys but no female servers that I noticed. On second thought, that last part might not be Soprano-like. And this certainly isn't an Italian restaurant by any means. Anyway, Monday business dinner for ten, well handled by the staff, if completely without humor and without any hint of willingness to expound on the menu. Drinks: as I mentioned, the bar looks to hold every known liquor and they have quite a bit of wine, but no taps. When I asked about their beer selection, the response was unintelligible but I did pick up the word 'stella' and correctly surmised I could get a Stella Artois. They may have better beer, but I wouldn't know. God forbid you put it on the drink menu. The food menu: DO NOT come here if you're vegetarian. You will starve. But if you swing carnivorous, there's plenty to choose from. I went with the green salad and coq-a-vin. Both prepared well and with some thought, although the chicken might have been a little heavy on the bay leaf. Salad was actually excellent. The various other entrees at the table seemed quite interesting and the restaurant does pay attention to presentation. One thing: the waiter will ask you in - again - unintelligible English what type of souffle you want, but won't mention they take 30 minutes to prepare. A few of our group didn't pick up on that and thus were disappointed when dessert time came around. This would have been an excellent opportunity for the staff to engage in communication. This place gets plenty of good reviews, and I can see why. But it really isn't my type of restaurant.
I have been here several times and generally have had a great experience, great food, great service. Tonight however was quite a different story. The food took 45 min...on a Wednesday. ...with half the restaurant empty. I could forgive that cos things happen...however the problem came when we said something to the waiter (Carlos). His response was " oh i dont know what to tell you". Not really the kind of answer you'd expect....but again I tried to forgive him. At the beginning of my meal i ordered a souffle (which in fact is the main reason I come here) so when I finished my dinner I was expecting a souffle. Well dear Carlos took it upon himself to have the kitchen NOT make my souffle since we had been upset about the wait time on the meal. Did he ask me if I still wanted it? Nope he sure didnt. Asked to speak to the owner but he didnt have time to speak with us. They did comp the meal but that didnt make up for the fact that the waiter was rude and I didnt have my souffle. Left very disappointed. Not sure if I'll be going back anytime soon. Carlos could use some hospitality lessons.

Two Chefs: 4 stars for the food. Very yummy!! Tried the tuna tataki appetizer. Delish! Served over homemade potato chips. Very interesting. For main course had the NY strip. Very big!! Came with cheese filled croquettas, interesting side dish. Ended with the chocolate souffle. Amazingly good. They offer a grand marnier souffle as well. Only set back is that they take 30 min to prepare each course, wow!! We were there for almost 3 hours!!!! My appetitie was alittle gone by the time my main course arrived. Come with AMPLE time! Good local restaurant, but very noisy.

after 2 chances 2 chefs still gets 2 stars seriously the service in this place is so pathetic, bordering offensive. i dont think i heard my waiters voice, really i cant recall. he would disappear and then show up out of nowhere and just stand there, thankfully we dine out often and have common sense so we know how and when to order, when to scoot over so they can clear the table, etc. he brought our food and just placed it, never making a peep - not even enjoy your dinner, or your souffles will be out soon, is there anything i can get for you. the water boy on the contrary was super polite and helpful and friendly - the waiter should take lessons from this kid on common courtesy! the chairs are comfortable, the lighting and set up sets the mood for a quiet intimate dinner. the menu offers several choices from meatballs and flat bread for appetizer to coq au vin to shrimp pasta for entree. and the souffles for dessert. the food is pretty delicious, but honestly i find it way overpriced for the location and service. i wouldnt call this place fine dining, more like neighborhood fancy. but again the service is so terrible that i will never go to this restaurant again. after two tries i would never go back to an establishment that treats their patrons so poorly.

The food has never WOW'ed me, but it's good. The ambiance is nice, and is one of the only fine dining restaurants in the area for american / european cuisine. Most people know this place for their cooking classes. I hear they are great classes. I'm hoping to try it out one day. Service is decent. I recently had their soup and the tuna tartare. The portions are pretty small for "American's" standards, but they make up for this with their tastey foods. I never go out of my way to come here, but many of my colleagues love it and always recommend this place for lunch, so I have to tag along.

Miami Spice visit - very good! The spice menu had good choices and every thing brought out was excellent! The staff was hospitable and knew how to attend to the table without making their presence overbearing. The only reason it gets 4/5 is unfortunately because of the location. Little strip mall on South Dixie just doesn't do it for a nice place like this. They should really consider relocating.

Why this place is rated only 3 stars on here is beyond me. I had quite the incredible experience when I visited! This place has been here for a long time. My lazy, procrastinator self kept driving by and thinking "oh i've heard this place is good, I need to try it sometime" over and over again. But I never did. Until this past week. Thanks to some of my lovelies, I finally made it! We were greeted and promptly seated by a wonderful waiter who was attentive to our every need throughout the course of dinner. He sat us tucked away in a somewhat private corner of the restaurant because he said "it looks like it's going to be a girls' night out kind of dinner!", so cute... Aside from the stellar service, I need to mention that my meal here is on a list of the top 3 meals I've ever had in this city, perhaps even in my whole life. Best seafood, best dessert... my mouth is watering as I reminisce! Started with a delicious mixed green salad with haricot verts and champagne vinaigrette. Moved on to the Bouillabase with lobster, scallops, shrimp, mussels, and clams. Can I just tell you how HUGE these pieces of seafood were? Like, MUTANT huge! I have never eaten a more delicious lobster...a more tender, savory scallop...a piece of shrimp so appetizing...It was all out of this world! To finish things off, we ordered a hazelnut souffle for the four of us. We were so full by the end of our main course we thought we may not even be able to finish dessert- but when the souffle got to our table and we had our first bites, we found ourselves wishing we had ordered about 10 of them! Most. Perfect. Dessert. Ever. Crispy outside, hot, moist inside, served with chocolate and vanilla sauces and strawberries. I've used this term before, but I'll use it again. By the end of this meal I had had multiple foodgasms. I will never forget this meal.
I had heard great things about this restaurant and was invited by a friend to try it for lunch today. I was so moved by my terrible experience, I came directly back to my computer to write a review! Something I seldomly do. I tried the $22 pre fix lunch which includes: appetizer, main course and dessert. The appetizer was a Ahi Tuna Tartare, hand cut Potato Chips, Huancaina Sauce. There was so much sauce on the potatoes that I could barely taste the tuna. Aside from that, it was the best/mediocre part of the meal. Next came the Grilled Diver Scallops & Shrimp, Garden Greens. Sounds delicious right? Not so much. The scallop and jumbo shrimps come wrapped up in each other so the scallop was perfectly cooked, but the shrimp extremely overcooked. There were 2 large scallops and 2 large shrimp on a bed on lettuce. Although not a reflection on the food, the restaurant was sooo cold, 30 seconds after the food came out, it was cold. The souffle we decided to take to go because of the near freezing temperature and extremely slow service. When I get back to my desk to give it a try, it is 80% undercooked! Inedible! Two thumbs down!! Will never go there again and DO NOT recommend.

This restaurant has always been a curiosity of mine -- it's generally known/believed to be one of the "top" fine dining restaurants in Miami, however I have never known anyone that has actually dined there. Always thought that was kind of interesting. So, my girlfriend and I dined there last night, with another couple. (Naturally, none in our group had ever dined there before.) So, in a nutshell, Two Chefs is more like a "top" fine dining restaurant, but for people that have not really dined much in cities like New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Vancouver, let alone outside of North America. For the rest of us, it's only average -- nothing horribly wrong, but most things not exactly right, at least for fine dining. A few examples: my appetizer was listed as "Wedge Salad, Danish Blue Cheese, Grilled Smoked Pork" -- what I received was a wedge of not-quite-crisp iceberg lettuce, a thin blue cheese style dressing and a strip of very smoky (and tasty) bacon. Nothing bad, but not exactly what one would expect from this description, in a top fine dining restaurant. My entree was listed as "New York Strip Steak 'Au Poivre' Cognac, Truffled Potato Croquette," which I ordered medium-rare. What I received was a huge piece of steak (went end to end on the plate), but the steak was not really "au poive" - there were maybe 5-6 peppercorns in total and none actually crusted onto the meat, the steak was cooked medium (almost medium-well), the "Cognac" was more of a brown sauce - fine, but no cognac flavor. And the croquettes were like really good Tater Tots, but had negligible truffle flavor. Oh, and the steak knife was forgotten, though magically appeared, to my left, several minutes after the entree arrived. Again, nothing necessarily bad, but not exactly what one would expect from this description, in a top fine dining restaurant. Our server was professional and friendly, however as he delivered each of the four appetizers and entrees, he had to survey the table to see who ordered which dish. Kind of like the way they do at Chili's. Again, not necessarily bad, but not exactly what one would expect in a top fine dining restaurant. At the end, my conclusion is that this place was more like a casual theme restaurant (think Outback Steakhouse with a broader menu) all dressed up in fancy clothes (with fancy prices). For the dollar, there are plenty of better options in the area -- South Miami alone has 4-5 that I can think of immediately.

My family has been going here since it opened - since it actually had two chef-owners. We've done countless family events there, meals with family and friends... The food is delicious and the kitchen is extremely accommodating in terms of one's dietetic or taste needs. Service is fantastic. From the time that you sit down and get the oven-warmed bread with the herbed olive oil to the souffles (if you can wait for one), it's just great. You can go casual or dressed up, as well: You'll see people in jeans/shorts and women in South Beach wear. The restaurant kind of fits both cultures. (Not really a yelp thing, but I absolutely recommend this restaurant for special events. I don't know if they still do cooking classes/parties, but I've been to a few there. And you can go so far as renting out the whole place. It makes for a lovely party space with good food, attentive service, great location, and ample parking. They cater and do take-out, too.)
Souffle is awesome, TUNA is mouth melting awesome. the wait is sometimes too long but the food is very good.. make a reservation or get to know JAN the owner very well......

I must say, this restaurant has delicious food! I started with the escargot appetizer they make, forgot the name of it, but it was something different and oh so tasty! We also tried the flat bread with pork belly, oh my god, wat a yummy dish! I know you're thinking anything with pork belly is yummy, but this you gotta try! The portions in this place are pretty big, so I ended up taking my dinner entree home so I could try the grand marnier souffle for dessert, and it was worth every calorie :) love this place! Will definitely go back!

This is the last and final time I ever come here. We come in at 2:00pm for lunch. We don't get greeted at the door and have to wait to be seated. Not even 2 minutes sitting down the waiter comes and tells my wife and I " we have run out of several items on the menu and order fast because we're closing" WTF?! I asked to speak to the manager and I waited 5 min. To find out he's the cook and can't talk to me. What a way NOT to run a business!
ZERO (0) Stars... AWFUL service. I WALKED OUT of this place. It was a random night last week (monday/tuesday?) and we were on our way home. Driving down US-1 with an appetite that would put a small circus to shame. We are in the mood for something new and start making our way down south. We pass our usual stops, like Stir Moon and Moon Thai, but decide to keep driving... As we are passing 67th Avenue, he sees Two Chefs from within a Plaza and says he's heard great things. "Do you want to stop?", he asks. "Sure, let's check it out. I can Yelp it!", I reply. We park and head on in. There is one table seated. I check my watch. It's only 8:00pm. Not too late. They can't be closing...? But yet, no one comes to seat us... We wait... 10 minutes have passed. Not another soul. Not an employee. We tentatively seat ourselves. I am STARVING at this point. I start imagine myself eating everything they have... We wait 5 more minutes and someone finally comes to the table to ask if we've been helped. Umm, EXCUSE ME, does it LOOK like we've been helped?!?! No water, No menus... UGH. He gives us menus with extreme attitude. We obviously must be in the wrong place. Are we in Kansas Toto?! At this point I dont even want the menu. I open it up and see some items that could have been quite tasty. They even have a Miami Spice menu. But, by now, my appetite is gone, along with our obnoxious server. I look at my love and tell him I'm over this place. He laughs. We get up and WE LEAVE. I just want Management to know that first off, you are NOT in South Beach and you are NOT a 5-Star Gourmet Restuarant servicing the Rich and Famous. Please drop the prices, get more efficient and friendly staff, and try again. Or just get a new location.

OMG. This afternoon I had the best cheeseburger that I've eaten in many, many years at Two Chefs. From the perfect bun to the precisely cooked, delicious burger, I just didn't want that meal to end. No, the waiter wasn't some bubbly air headed kid. Go to a chain restaurant like Fridays or BJs for that insincere silliness. Guess I'd have to say our waiter was solemnly competent. Also, to those who complain about the horrors of restaurants (such as this one) being located in strip malls, I'd just say WTF? I'll take convenient free parking over an overpriced valet punk driving my car just about every day. Two Chefs food is always solid, (though rarely fantastic like my favorite steak place in south Florida, NY Prime in Boca). Also, the Two Chefs private party room has the best layout in town for a private party or seminar.

One of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is fancy without actually being fancy. This is evidenced by the fact that men can go dressed in shorts, but they wouldn't look out of place in a pair of slacks. i love the fact that they offer the Miami Spice year round, and that you can stay away from the city! I've gone several times, and have always eaten from the Miami Spice portion of the menu. EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS!!! I cannot and will not pick a favorite, my recommendation: go with 3 or more people and then try from each others plates. No matter what you do... do not leave without having their signature dessert! The service has always been wonderful, and I truly have NO complaints.

Disappointing. Heard great things from a co-worker so decided to stop by. My friend ordered a salmon souffle which was absolutely delicious and I had grilled salmon which was just gross, the fish tasted old and the seasoning was just off. It's also the most boring place I have ever dined in, the service is a joke, waiters are inattentive and expressionless... Just no.

Last night four of us went to Two Chefs. We have been there several times over the last 4-5 years and have never been impressed. Last night was no different. The service seemed a bit better than we remembered it in the past and, as is usual on a Saturday night, plenty of tables were occupied, although the restaurant was not full. Let's talk about the food: A pork entree was overcooked and tough; the trout was not fresh and tasted fishy, the mahi mahi was also overcooked and the duck confit/duck breast combination was bland. Entrees are generally priced on either side of $30 and this restaurant should be ashamed of themselves for over charging. Although people may come here to treat themselves to a special meal, they clearly get short changed. The wine list is unexceptional (and overpriced) for a place that prides itself as a culinary outpost (it's also a cooking school and is happy to charge you "full value" if you are an average Joe who wants to pickup some pointers in the kitchen). Skip Two Chefs (really one chef, since one of the founders retired in 2001) and go to someplace where the fish is fresh and the meat doesn't taste like it's been frozen before it is served to you.

My husband and I decided to venture outside of Coconut Grove lastnight. We debated the options during our entire workout and finally settled on Two Chefs, which I had been to several times years back. The location is off putting considering what it is on the inside. Nice elegant bar and restaurant. The food is amazing and well proportioned.

Agree with everything Mister W says about this place, especially the location and the souffle. I had the richest, mouth-exploding coq au vin here with some white-truffle mashed potatoes here. The service was fantastic, of course, timing was almost perfect, although I could have preferred a little more time after getting my cocktail before the salad. They must really want the patrons to try out the specials. They have a couple small chalkboards with the night's specials written on them. Shortly after sitting down, they put one of these guys at your table. If you have a spare chair, it sits there with you like an added diner. If you had no spare chairs, then one is pulled up to join you. This one sat with us for about 20minutes, so I don't know what happens when they are seating so many diners that they don't have any more chalkboards to place at the new tables. A mystery I will have to solve some other time.

Two Chefs is a good restaurant, but service can be uneven. I have been there when service has been great and other nights where we've been ignored. The food is usually pretty good. I enjoy the coq au vin and the soups mostly. One night we ordered a flatbread appetizer and waited and waited. We finally asked the waiter about it and he checked. he came back and said that the chef had burned the flatbread and had to start over. our waiter was spending all his time taking care of another table that had ordered several bottles of wine and were running up a big tab. To his credit, he offered us a free dessert to compensate. Also, the place has tile floors and gets very noisy when the restaurant is busy.

Excellent dinner! Excellent Service. Will be back!

Best Miami Spice menu in town, big variety

Food is Good, place has no real atmosphere. Great place to take your grandmother when she turns 90 years old.

Two Chefs is the best restaurant south of Coral Gables and can compete with the best in Miami. My family has been going to Two Chefs for as long as I can remember. It is like our kitchen away from home. No matter when I've gone, how busy they've been, etc. the food has always been consistently excellent. My Yelp review is long past due. When you walk in, you'll often find the owner/chef Jan standing at the entrance. This basically is the go to restaurant for locals, so he knows the customers who frequent the restaurant. Straight ahead is the bar and, if you're lucky, Juan will be the bartender. He's been there as long as I can remember and many people (like me) choose to sit at the bar for dinner because he provides excellent service and great conversation. Like all great bartenders, he knows when you want privacy and when you want to have a conversation. He gives great recommendations and pours some stiff drinks. An added bonus of sitting at the bar is that you get to see the food coming through the window for bar service. You'll notice that to the right there is a door leading to somewhere. That is the private party room, also where the cooking classes are taught. Occasionally that room also is opened for dinner when the restaurant is extremely busy. When you arrive you'll be served a half loaf of bread with olive oil to munch on while you peruse the menu. The menu changes weekly and is always outstanding. There always are Miami Spice menu options and, really, that's the best thing to choose. There are some staples that are always on the menu. For instance, the Caesar salad is always on the appetizer menu. The dressing is great and the salad is served in full, fresh romaine leaves. It comes with a large crouton and cheese crisp. There are always several different flavor of soufflés to choose from, including Grand Marnier and chocolate as usual suspects. Some of my favorite things (some on the menu and some as sides) are the Caesar salad, lobster bisque, tuna tartar appetizer, shrimp pizza, potato croquettes, golden beets, salmon, polenta cake and, of course, the Grand Marnier soufflé. In case I haven't made the point yet, you can't leave without having a soufflé. The Grand Marnier soufflé is my favorite but you really can't go wrong no matter which one you choose. Don't forget to pour the sauce all over it!!! The cooking classes also are stellar, and you learn some great tips like how they make the soufflés so soft and sweet in the center. Getting the recipe to make the soufflés at home alone makes the class price well worth it! Two Chefs is a hidden gem. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner there and for part of my bachelorette party I had a cooking party at Two Chefs. I'm lucky enough to have been there for as long as I can remember and highly recommend it to everyone.

5 stars for the soufflé but unfortunately that is really the only thing to come for. Overall I thought the food was competent but nothing to write home about or that I would crave. While the dim candle lighting makes for a romantic experience, the ambiance otherwise is fairly bland. The service can be downright snail-like, and mostly, the food just isn't innovative or interesting enough to warrant the hefty price tag. The menu may change but really nothing is *that* out there in creativity. The meatballs with blue cheese custard came disturbingly cold inside, and seemed to lack much of the promised custard. However, the pasta was tasty and suffused with a nice smokiness that paired well with the meat and al dente pasta curls. Otherwise the dishes were entirely forgettable. The best choice is clearly their soufflés. Hands down, if you're coming to Two Chef's it needs to happen.

Yes it's a bit pricey... But remember you always get what you pay for. Yes it's a bit slow.... But do you rather have a fresh cooked meal or a reheated one? Today my office-family and I went to Two Chefs to celebrate our Boss Man's birthday. The meal was superb! I had a Beef Carpaccio for appetizer, grilled salmon with asparagus and potatoes and a ahhhhmazing chocolate soufflé to complete the meal. Every item was cooked to perfection. Flavor was incredible and the attention we received from the staff was excellent. Some of my colleagues also had the Tuna Tartar, shrimp fettuccine and the grand mariner soufflé which they also enjoyed very much.
(4)Renee K.
We went in for their lunch menu during the Miami Spice. It was a great deal and my Tuna steak was the best I have ever had. I have never been for dinner but I think I would love to go now. The only reason I didn't give 5 was the service was a little slow for lunch.

3 of us went for dinner on Tuesday night at 7:45. The restaurant had 9 tables of patrons and 2 people at the bar. We were seated in the center of all the patrons then asked to be seated away from the central cluster of diners. Additional first impressions: the temperature in the restaurant was warm, it is very very dark and there is a paper placemat on top of the linen table cloth. We opted for only 1 Miami Spice meal and 2 entrées. Our waiter mentioned the half priced bottles of wine (Tuesday only) which was not clear from the wine list. This may have been an oversight on all three of us because we couldn't see the fine print on the menu without our spot light from our phones. They've adapted their regular menu to include most items for MS and some with additional charges to the $39 fixed MS price. The crab cake appetizer had a nice crunchy breading but the crab filling was stringy and mushy. The tarter sauce was very basic and placed on top of the cake. The large asparagus were very fresh but the ends were not cut off so the last inch or two was tough. The tuna was over seasoned and the hash mix did not pair at all. The bacon wrapped meatloaf was good and a large portion but the black bean BBQ sauce didn't have a hint of black beans. The mashed potatoes were very fresh but too much horseradish and was missing butter, cream, salt and pepper. The pork loin was mildly seasoned but very tender. The escargot bolognaise was a nice blend with large chunks of escargot but this was also mildly seasoned. The bitter sweet chocolate soufflé was very good; perfectly baked but the sauce was more sweet than bitter sweet for my taste. I'd go back for an after dinner drink and their soufflés.
(2)Mariana C.
Went for the Miami Spice menu last night with my husband and another couple. I'm giving them two stars cause the drink at the bar was nice and the soufflé was delicious. Unfortunately, there was a dead fly on my napkin, a roach crawled up the wall by our table while we were eating, the waiter did not bring us more bread even though we reminded him we would like some more three times and the restrooms were filthy. Too bad because the food, especially the soufflé, was good.
(2)Candace T.
Soufflés, soufflés, soufflés! My favorite part of any meal is dessert.. and Two Chefs takes the cake (or soufflé!). Several flavors to choose from, all delicious. Desert aside however, the menu is always changing.. Definitely some staple items, but since everything is purchased fresh, the menu is based on current availability, which is always a good thing. Jan is fantastic and his entire staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They have a room for events or large private parties, great for luncheons, wedding events, birthdays, and so forth. Additionally, if you love their food, you'll love their cooking classes!

I date night gone very well... when I walked in it seemed a little dark but as I sat down my eyes adjusted to the candle light.. we were greated immediately. we were told that the Miami spice menu was available. I then inquired what the menu was, extremely surprised by their answer.... the whole menu is available that put a huge smile on both our faces.. I had the chicken with risotto... absolutely amazing.. she also like her dish being the meatloaf. very hearty meals left us full and content but could not walk away with it trying all three of their soufflés... the chocolate being the best and neither of us like chocolate. great place!!! staff very attentive and nice. I would recommend this place. definitely going back.
(5)Sydney M.
The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. The menu has great variety and they offer their Miami Spice deal year round which is an affordable way to get an appetizer, main course, and soufflé. Their tuna tartar is so good, but their main courses have never amazed me. They tend to over salt their dishes I think. I can't remember the exact menu names but I've had the chicken and a risotto dish that were just way too salty. The soufflés are always baked to perfection and I would come back just to get another taste of the amazing dessert.

I attended a bridal shower here and they did a fantastic job! The management was extremely accommodating to our needs, the service was great, the food was delicious, and everyone had a wonderful time. The tuna tartare and crab cakes were my favorite appetizer, I had a really good salmon for my entree, and the chocolate soufflé for dessert was incredible. I would highly recommend doing an event here, or just coming for lunch or dinner any time.
(5)Annette K.
(4)Lidia P.

ALL hail the Miami Spice Gods...I have wanted to come here for a while and I finally went. For starters, who would have thought that in this little strip mall you could find such a gem. We arrived for an early dinner and lucked out with our server, Bryan. He was courteous and very knowledgeable about the menu. I opted to order the lychee martini which was real good, and we dove right into the MS menu. For appetizers we had the tuna tartare, and pulled pork Bolognese: the tuna was nice and light and the right portion. The pork was a little heavy for me but just as good, however a little bigger than expected For entrees we had the pork loin stuffed with spinach, and the asopao: both a very decent portion, I loved the asopao though. Not too wet, it had shrimp, salmon...hmm hmm and finally for dessert we had the bittersweet chocolate soufflé and the grand Marnier soufflé: totally decadent and fresh. Superb dinner, excellent service...Will come back for some of their cooking classes.

Amazing food and service. I had not been here in years and they are still just as great as I remembered. They even brought a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a candle in it for my birthday. Their pistachio soufflé was superb. I would definitely go back. Today we did the Miami spice menu and they had so many delicious sounding options.

(4)jen r.
after 2 chances 2 chefs still gets 2 stars seriously the service in this place is so pathetic, bordering offensive. i dont think i heard my waiters voice, really i cant recall. he would disappear and then show up out of nowhere and just stand there, thankfully we dine out often and have common sense so we know how and when to order, when to scoot over so they can clear the table, etc. he brought our food and just placed it, never making a peep - not even enjoy your dinner, or your souffles will be out soon, is there anything i can get for you. the water boy on the contrary was super polite and helpful and friendly - the waiter should take lessons from this kid on common courtesy! the chairs are comfortable, the lighting and set up sets the mood for a quiet intimate dinner. the menu offers several choices from meatballs and flat bread for appetizer to coq au vin to shrimp pasta for entree. and the souffles for dessert. the food is pretty delicious, but honestly i find it way overpriced for the location and service. i wouldnt call this place fine dining, more like neighborhood fancy. but again the service is so terrible that i will never go to this restaurant again. after two tries i would never go back to an establishment that treats their patrons so poorly.
(2)Laura D.
(4)Dan M.
My wife insisted that this place was no good.....She was wrong! 2 stars are for service, and I am big on service. Food was awesome, if I ever eat from here again, it will be take out.
(2)Andrew L.
(4)Genir R.
The worst service and experience you can have at a restaurant. If you find yourself eating at this place slap your own face.
(1)Ana Cristina P.
(5)Elizabeth D.
I usually only come for dessert. The chocolate soufflé is divine. Only $10.50 for a very full ramekin of delicious moist fluff with chocolate sauce and creme anglaise on the side. I promise you will be spooning every last drop of the creme anglaise out of the dish. Delicious!
(4)Jenny L.

My boyfriend took me there for Valentine's dinner. The place is very romantic, excellent service, BUT I wasn't really thrilled with my overpriced entree (the Seafood Asopao). It lacked flavor, salt, and the rice was too gooey. I also tried his which was the Veggie Risotto, it was slightly better but still didn't awe us. I don't mind eating at an overpriced place if the food is worth it, but in this case I thought it wasn't. Maybe I would give this place another chance, perhaps the food is better on a less busier night. The chocolate soufflé on the other hand was heaven. I highly recommend it. But I couldn't even eat half of the entree and didn't care to take it home. We both left there with mixed feelings about the place, especially after we saw how much he had to pay for food we couldn't even gulp down. My poor boyfriend!! I do love him for trying :)

Over the years, I've dined at this restaurant numerous times, but after eating dinner there last night I remembered how much I love it! It's in an unassuming strip mall, but don't let that fool you... I had the Ahi Tuna Steak with Rock Shrimp, Gnocchi & Tomato Confit. So flavorful and juicy. Seriously, I could not stop raving about the taste. I skipped dessert this time, but their Grand Marnier Soufflé is a must. Also, they update their menu almost weekly and you can check it out online.

Heavy, old school "fine dining." I can't imagine returning, or why it is so popular.

Can someone say AMAZING...... But AMAZING.... the tuna tartare starter hands down perfection. The ambiance is romantic so this is a great dinner date atmosphere but overall amazing!

Hosted a wonderful luncheon for my mother-in-law here and it was FABULOUS!!!!! Service, food, and ambience were exceptional. The salmon and soufflé were superb. Everyone had a great time. Couldn't have asked for more....

Had the tuna steak and the rib steak on the spice menu. All the food was good, service good.
